Book: Cinder By Melissa Meyers

(The 1st book in a 4 book series)

Genre: Sci-fi, Young Adult, Fairytales

Description:

"A forbidden romance.

A deadly plague.

Earth's fate hinges on one girl . . .

CINDER, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen - and a dangerous temptation.

Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future. This is not the fairytale you remember. But it's one you won't forget." Goodreads

Thoughts: When I first began the book I was apprehensive because I thought it was a weird idea to remake the fairytale of Cinderella with Cinderella being a cyborg and adding a

sci-fi feel. I mostly started the book because some of my friends had read it and told me that they really liked it. So after getting through the first few chapters I got into it. I like how the characters are realistic with struggles and challenges. The plot was interesting and very creative despite it being a retelling of the classic fairytale of Cinderella.

One of my only cautions with this book is that there are two or three swear words. Other than that the book was clean and appropriate.

Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ (5 stars)

When I was trying to figure out what I was going to write on, I realized I hadn't written a book review in a while and I had finished Cinder. I've also started the next book so look forward to seeing a book review on that one in the future!
