Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

Updated: Nov 27, 2019

Ten days til Christmas. You've been busy and you need a gift for your family member or friend. What are you going to do? Continue reading to find out what you can do as a last minute Christmas gift.

First thing, that would be great for the friend that has a great sense of humor- the jar of nothing. Found on Pinterest.

The jar of nothing is self explanatory. 'Why would they want that?' you might ask. On the front or in a note put an explanation kind of like this:

"Yes, it does say nothing. When you were asked what you want for Christmas (Birthday or whatever) don't you remember saying 'nothing'? Well this time someone heard you, searched high and low, and found this perfect gift"

Okay so I know what you might be thinking, it's really cheesy but you know you could always do this as a pretend gift and actually have something else for them.

Next gift idea, a bag of chips. Yes I did say that, a bag of chips. To explain, you can get them a bag of chips and put a note on it that says- 'You're all that in a bag of chips' This is also a rather silly one but just something to give you an idea.

Okay third one, the previous two were more of funny gifts but this one is actually something you could do for a sincere gift. Ready for it? A chill pill jar otherwise known as the Stress jar. I've personally used this one and it has brought great results. You need a jar and M&Ms. You pour the M&Ms into the jar. After that you cut an oval out of card-stock paper (or regular paper if you don't have card-stock paper) and write 'Stress Jar' or 'Chill Pills' on it in your neatest handwriting. Once the label is finished tape it to the jar. Voila. A stress jar. Great for high schoolers and college students!

Add on: A variation of it is rolling a piece of paper and placing it in the middle of the jar making sure you can still get to the M&Ms and taping it there. Inside this roll of paper you can place folded pieces of paper. On those pieces of paper you can have written one of many things:

1) Quotes

2) Reasons why you like this person or are thankful for them

3) Little notes of positivity.

Any of these will help the stressed person and brighten their day. If you have any questions let me know.

Fourth gift idea: Cookies. It's pretty simple and basic but delicious. I personally would be okay if someone just gave me cookies. This is something you can bake the day before Christmas.

Fifth idea: As a kid I didn't know what to give my parents or my siblings. So being creative, I created (or maybe it was my brother) the coupon book. The coupon book is a one of a kind gift made by you. You take small rectangle pieces of paper and staple them together to make a little book. On each piece of paper in your book write things like:

Doing the dishes

Picking the movie

Cleaning your room

For each person it will be different. When I was younger picking the movie was a big deal so these coupon books for a time to pick the movie was a big deal. To explain some more: when you give it to them, they then have the ability to use them. So if you're about to watch a movie they can pull it out and they'd be able to pick the movie. These coupons are one time deals or whatever you want them to be. They are something that can change depending on the person and the age. Sorry that was a rough explanation but hopefully it was understandable.

Next gift idea: number six, same color gift. So my brothers gave me this gift idea. You go to a store and get little things all the same color, like chapstick, a pack of tissues, gum, candy, nail polish (obviously not for a guy), fuzzy socks, and lots of other things. Make sure it's all the same color. To finish put it in a bag of that color and you could put (depending on what color you did) a little note with a color pun:

-I'm tickled PINK that you're my __ (mom, friend, sister, ect.)

-I just wanted to TEAL you Merry Christmas (or Happy Birthday)

Not something for Christmas but still- Something out of the BLUE because I love you.

-May your Christmas be filled with Sunshine (Yellow)

or maybe you could do,

-May your Christmas be filled with Snow (White)

Even if you don't have a color pun, you still have a cool gift, and I'm sure they'll love it.

Number three hundred and seven, maybe a piece of art. If you can draw, you can draw a nice sketch and put it in a frame. I've been getting into drawing and trying to draw people from photos. My drawings are getting better but still a little rough. If you try to draw them something it's the thought that counts.

Number eight, an Ice Cream Sundae in a box, get some sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel, ice cream cones, whatever else you and this person like on your ice cream. When they use the box, all they need is Ice cream.

Number 9: Homemade duct tape pouch, All you need is colorful duct tape, scissors, and a Ziploc baggy. Put duct tape on the outside of the Ziploc baggy and TaDa you got a stylish pencil case or a pouch for something else. Simple yet useful.

Last but not least: number 10, Candy. Anyone will appreciate this. It's like the cookies. No one will refuse candy (unless allergic). Find out what they're favorite candy is and go from there.

Thanks for reading! Hopefully these ideas were useful for you!
